ABOUT THE CONTRIBUTORSAndy Opel and his family have been coming to the lake for five generations. He is a writer, filmmaker and musician who teaches documentary video production and environmental communication at Florida State University.
Karel Hayes is a writer and illustrator. Her book The Winter Visitors won the 2008 Time of Wonder Award from the Maine Discovery Museum and an Independent Publisher Bronze Medal. She has illustrated more than twenty books and her paintings have appeared in exhibitions nationally. She lives with her husband in Center Harbor, New Hampshire.
